Get a taste of the freshest flavor under the sun - Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy. A Shandy is a lemonade flavored beer, a European favorite drink during the warmer summer months. And the light, crisp flavor makes it a great summer refresher. Each batch is carefully brewed using the finest wheat, malted barley and just a hnt of real Wisconsin honey. Then, our brewmasters mix in fresh lemonade and citrus flavors to create an adventerous taste that’s perfect for those lazy days of summer.

This was the first Shandy I’ve tried, so I’m not sure how it stacks up against others in its genre, but I liked it a lot. It really did taste more like an alcoholic lemonade than a beer. But, you can taste the wheat and hops enough to know you’re drinking a beer and not a wine cooler. This beer topped off my day of surfing and bocci ball perfectly. Very refreshing, crisp and not sour.

There is a strong citrus, lemon overtone to the beer that makes it taste not very beer-like and more like a hard lemonade. Not being too familiar with Shandy’s as a whole I’m not sure how this one stacks up in the genre.
A bit too sweet for my liking. I like to try and pair beers with food to enhance the pleasure gained from having the beer with a nice meal, but I’ve not been able to pair this beer successfully with anything.

If you’re looking for a citrusy, summer beer, this is the right choice for you. It has a nice, acidic sweetness to it, like the beer’s been mixed with lemonade.
It’s slightly too sweet for me, and the acid catches too much for a session beer, but if you want a break from bland light beers, you could do a lot worse.
