The most prized of Maritime Pacific Brewing Company’s seasonal beers, Jolly Roger Christmas ale is a truly original holiday brew, combining rich malt character with a blend of fresh Northwest Chinook and Cascade hops. The official insignia for this English-style strong ale is a smiling skull and crossbones on a black pirate flag. This emblem serves as a reminder that, like the buccaneer rogues (or “rogers”) of the 1700s for whom the flag was named, this brew has been known to “keelhaul” the individual who abuses it! So enjoy your holidays with discretion, and hoist a pint of Jolly at your favorite drinking establishment. Join Maritime’s salute to the era of the high-seas renegade! “Yo-ho-ho!”

It’s a really deep, dark brown, and it’s got this deep almost thick taste when you drink it. I loved hop undertones, but while I was drinking it I couldn’t help but think how sweet it is. If you’re up for a sweet, malty ale with some tasty hop flavor thrown in underneath it all, this is your beer.

What a winter warmer. And, it holds well in growlers. Last year I was able to get one of the season’s last fills and managed to keep the beer until mid-summer (not always recommended, but one to definately savor). And, if you’re ever make it to the Jolly Roger Room, try the onion rings (pure delight)!
