From the Real Ale site: “Firemans #4 is a great way to beat the heat - enjoy it on a Texas summer day, or pair it with spicy foods to help put out the fire.” That just about covers it. I like Fireman’s more than other local offerings.

A caramel, malty smell with a taste that backs it up, though there’s a tinge of hoppiness as well. After spending the better part of a week sampling some of the other local Austin brews, this one was the only choice one night at a bar and I have to admit being very unimpressed. Just not feeling the love.

Wonderful hoppy ale from right here in Austin. Pairs with an Amarillo Burger from Casino El Camino or a Rocky Patel Vintage cigar at Ruta Maya Coffee House.

    Comment:

I have a heart for this beer as it introduced me to the craft brewery forms instead and got me away from the Bud Light, Miller Light, etc. So if that were the only citeria i would give it a 97. However, though it is easy to drink it seems to be a bit thin now that i have gotten into craft beers. Love the essence and will always remember it enough to have one once in a while
