From Widmer: Our Flagship - America’s Original Hefeweizen. A golden unfiltered wheat beer that is truly cloudy and clearly superb. Ever since Widmer introduced Hefeweizen to America in 1986, ours has been the standard by which all other Hefeweizens are judged.

A few extra points to this one as it was my first micro ever back in the late 80’s. Loved it then and still enjoy it today. A little watery than some of the recent offerings, but still quite refreshing. Love it with fresh lemon slice squeezed and dropped in the glass.
An enjoyable brew taking me back to my “early days” of beer drinking!

While drinkable it is a rather weak offering for a Hefe (my favorite type of beer). It seems to always be served with fruit on the side. It will do if no other hefe is available

I think a good hefe is really hard to find. Having said that, I think this is one of the better ones available on the mass market. Nice cloudy appearance, and refreshing but with a slightly tart flavor that has a nice hop balance. Strangely enough, I actually prefer this beer from the bottle.

Not the biggest hefeweizen fan, but this would probably be my favorite. Goes down smooth everytime, not watered down at all, good thick, wheaty feeling going here. Might as well throw a lemon on it to make it seem right.

Light and cloudy. Adding a lemon sets off the sweetness in the wheat. Just a little bit of a bitterness also. Not too deep in flavor but extremely balanced. If it were a hot day and you wanted something cool and refreshing, this would be it.

As a beer… not the worst and certainly not the best.
It will do in a pinch in other words.
As a hefeweizen? It’s seriously lacking when compared to the traditional German versions.
More of an American pale wheat ale than a true weizen.
When I think Hefe I think of Weihenstephaner, Schneider and Paulauner

Nice beer to have during the summer. It is extremely easy to find and is a safe bet when nothing else sounds appealing.
