From Hair of The Dog Brewing: Adam is a recreation of a historic beerstyle. Originally made in Dortmunder, Germany, it was the first beer I produced when I opened Hair of the Dog. Rich in flavor, Adam is best served as a dessert beer. It is great with chocolate or cigars, or just a warm fire and good company

Pours a nice dark red/brown with a nice thick and creamy head. First impression? Very nice. Sweet, but not overly so. Hints of fig or raisin mixed with a slight hop taste and caramel malts. It’s nice and creamy and finishes with a nice alcohol warmth. A great after dinner beer.
- Characteristics: caramel creamy fig raisin sweet warm

This is my favorite dark beer discovery from 08! Smooth, with a full mouth feel and taste, this is a well-balanced ale. Not too sweet, not too bitter, complex without being too exotic, this beer is the perfect companion on a cold winter night.
- Characteristics: balanced large! smooth warming

Picked up a bottle of this and the Fred at Belmont Station in Portland, Or. Manily drank it staright from the bottle, but did pour a little out into a pint glass to see the color. Was darken then I expected more of a dark amber almost violet. The taste is very complex and interesting.
- Characteristics: violet
