I like the dark much better than the light, especially the light sold commercially in bottles. McSorley’s itself has a lot of charm and the burgers are pretty good. The mustard really is ass-kickingly spicy. Good place to go during the week, but has a line of middle-aged bridge & tunnel types stretching down the block on the weekends day or night, so you’re better off going someplace else.

this was the second time i’d had McSorley’s beer, and the first time outside of their original NYC location. the dark has decent malty flavor, but is decidedly watery; it would be excellent if it had a little more body. nevertheless, i think it’s designed to be a session beer, and to that end it accomplishes its goals.
