   Comment:

   Pours a deep, opaque black/brown color with a rich brown head. The aroma brings out flavors of chocolate, hops, and espresso beans. There’s also a pronounced alcohol scent, but as the beer warms an aerates a bit the sharpness subsides. If poured immediately after opening, the carbonation can be overwhelming, so it’s best to open it, to let it warm a bit and wait a few minutes before pouring. The mouthfeel is good, and not overly syrupy as you commonly find in the Imperial Stout style. The taste is similar to the aroma, although the espresso is more pronounced and adds with a hint of cherries and spice. The spice becomes more intense on the finish, and lingers long after drinking.

   Overall, this beer is a great imperial stout, although it differs slightly from the typical characteristics of the style. Highly recommended. I also picked up another bottle for cellaring, so hopefully I will remember to come back in a year or two and compare it to this review. :)

   Comment:

   Pours an opaque dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma is sweet with heavy caramel and chocolate notes. Flavor is also sweet with a coffee undertones. Very slight alcohol burn at the end mingling with the hop. Nice bitter aftertaste. Another great beer from the Smokestack Series.
