From Founders: You’ve got to love coffee to truly appreciate this phenomenal brew. Brewed with an abundance of flaked oats, bitter and sweetened imported chocolates, Sumatra and Kona coffee. Breakfast Stout has an intense fresh roasted coffee nose toped with a cinnamon colored frothy head that seems to never fade and makes you wish breakfast could last forever.

One of the small handful of things I miss about Michigan. A full season of flavor in every bottle. SUPER creamy mouthfeel. Hides its alcohol well.

Absolutely outstanding stout. This is one of those stouts that will knock you out of your chair if you don’t know what’s coming. Booming flavors of chocolate, and smoke, and cream, and vanilla, and raisin, and peatiness. It’s like drinking a woody winter’s night.

Plus, if you love this, you must try Founder’s Kentucky Breakfast Stout which is all of this and more.

I picked this up at the store about a month before Thanksgiving. Poured into an American pint glass. It pours a very dark dark dark brown, almost black but with those brown hints. The head, which there was very little was a dark tan color. The smell is very coffee with some very nice sweet notes you also get a nice mix of roasted malts. Overall the aroma is fabulous and very complex. The taste matches the aroma nicely. Lots of sweet coffee tastes up front, the carbonation hits your tongue very nicely and then you get a very clean chocolate taste. In the after taste the roasted malt flavors get you big time. Over all great taste, I almost wish the coffee was a little more, it might of helped the mouthful feel a little less sticky and more refreshing. Highly drinkable for it being 8.3% ABV.

This brew is amazing. This complex stout is great for sipping and is incredibly smooth despite it’s high ABV. It has a nice body between medium and heavy, sweet coffee introduction and a dark chocolate finish.

Delicious. Perfect amount of carbonation, lots of flavor. A bit bitter at the end, but in a good, coffee kind of way, rather than hoppy.

Excellent stout from Founders Brewing - I can see why they’re so highly rated. Rich, coffee, chocolaty like aroma. Very complex taste - starts out out hoppy and sweet, then the roasty coffee like flavor comes through. Warm, crisp but not overpowering finish. A beer to sip and savor.

pours deep black with a light brown head that has no retention. It’s gone within a minute.

aroma is chocolate and malty. there’s some burnt wood smell going on in there.

taste is bitter malts and then fades to a bittersweet chocolate with coffee notes. There’s a lingering bitterness that lasts 10 seconds. The alcohol is well hidden; this is a nicely balanced beer.

the mouthfeel is slightly syrupy, but nothing super heavy.

This is a tasty stout, though I think I’m just not big on oatmeal stouts. The chocolate and coffee flavors make this one pretty damn tasty though and well worth a try.

    Characteristics: chocolate creamy dark smooth
