It might not be entirely black, but it’s certainly darker than most IPAs. With that said, I’m not entirely sure it tasted like an IPA; it almost felt more like a hoppy, citric stout. Regardless, I liked it. It was refreshing and had a bit of a kick to it, but not in a crazy manner. Flavorful, but not insane.

Still, I have a feeling this might be a love it or hate it type of beer, but it’s definitely worth a try.

Very interesting for an IPA. Pours very dark; a deep dark red/brown with a light yet slightly HUGE foamy head that lasts and lasts. Nice lacing on the glass. This definatley tastes “black”. Has a bit more of a toasted flavor than most IPAs, but lacking the sweetness of a porter or stout. Really reminded me of strong, almost burned, coffee, with a slight citrus note and lots of bitter hops. Has a nice oily/creamy mouthfeel. It’s not bad, but not great either.

Supper disappointed given that black IPA’s are a fav of mine. It almost had a taste of batch gone slightly over cooked. Still had some floral hoppiness to it. It was just soso.

Dark and hoppy flavor, dry finish. Coffee-like. I’ve brewed my own black IPAs and this isn’t bad, just not a favorite.
