Terrapin Rye Pale Ale

Brewery: Terrapin Beer Company · Athens, GA
Variety: Ale · American Ale · Rye Beer
Alcohol: ABV 5.30% / ABW 13.50%
IBU: 45
Preferred vessel: Pint glass
Added by Aarron Walter

By using an exact amount of rye, a grain seldom found in other micro brewed beers, the Rye Pale Ale acquires its signature taste. Made with five varieties of hops and a generous amount of specialty malts, it offers a complex flavor and aroma that is both aggressive and well balanced – a rare find among beers.

This is a great beer. The amount of rye they used for the gain bill is perfect. It has a nice subtle bite and had a lingering finish. I had this with a fried chicken salad with buttermilk ranch and it paired very well.

Wonderful dark golden color. Crisp and hoppy at the start, and the hoppy-ness lingers at the finish. I’m rapidly becoming a Pale Ale fan and this one is at or near the top of the list!

The rye gives this a neat almost-super-hoppy twist. Unique and delicious!
