This is probably my favorite of the regular Dogfish Head offerings. It’s rich and full of flavor, but not heavy and with just the right sweetness — highly drinkable for a 7.2% ABV beer.

Pours with a wonderful, creamy, tan head. The aroma is sweet, malty, nutty with a tiny bit of coffee. The beer is very sweet with hints of molasses, coffee, brown sugar. Finishes hoppy and sweet. Definately one of the unexpectedly-sweetest beers I have had in a while.

Dark amber and clear. Nutty and caramel aromas. Flavor comes in as caramel and roasty, a bit dry from the hops, with a roasty aftertaste. It’s like an extra hopped and bigger American Brown Ale. Very nice to drink.

Very sweet aroma, chocolate even. The taste is well-balanced, though. Bitter to start, increasingly sweet.

A very unusual brown but in an interestingly good way. Where most browns have this unique nutty characteristic, this is more of an IPA meeting perhaps a chocolate stout. It’s chocolaty sweet yet hoppy bitter from start to finish in a very balanced way that’s unlike any other brown I’ve had.

Definitely one of the finest brown ales I’ve ever had. Comes on like a nut brown ale that’s been attacked by an IPA and a Russian stout. Strong hops, malt, molasses.
- Characteristics: bitter hoppy malt molasses

Pours red-dk.brown with a fine light head. Sweet malt aroma, barley roasty bite and chocolate finish similar to a Porter. A fine brown Ale!
- Characteristics: malty sweet

Very smooth ale with a strong caramel flavor, finishes somewhat bittersweet. The hops are very understated, just enough to make this ale enjoyable, but not enough to outshine the caramel sweetness.

A lot of complexity in this one. The nose is classic brown ale with brown sugar notes. Each sip starts with a strong alcohol taste (almost like a hoppy barleywine), then gives way to a roasted caramel and chocolate flavor (almost like a stout). Really nice variety, and definitely drinkable.

A hearty, complex brown ale.
Pours brown with a medium tan head. The aroma is sweet, with nutty, coffee hints - heartier than just about any other brown ale I’ve sampled.
The taste is very complex, you first get the sweetness, then the nutty, coffee flavors kick in, followed by a crisp hop finish.
- Characteristics: coffee complex nutty sweet
