Fort is brewed with an enormous amount of pureed raspberries over a two month primary fermentation. It is noted as the world’s strongest fruit beer, bringing a whopping 18% abv to the table. This rare seasonal ale is characterized by its complex, warm, spicy and fruity flavor. The alcohol taste is strong and noticeable right away.

My all-time favorite beer, Fort, is only sold on draft (if you’re lucky enough to find it on draft) or in champagne bottles. It has a gorgeous, cloudy, deep orange pour with a rich head. Despite being fermented with over a ton of pureed raspberries, this is not really a sweet beer. The high alcohol content and spicy, fruity bouquet instantly warms your entire mouth and throat. The tart raspberry taste is well balanced with honey, malt and vanilla flavors. This beer is pretty heavy and drinks like a dessert or after-dinner cordial.
- Characteristics: cloudy fruity heavy raspberry rich spicy strong thick

Dark gold with hints of red and a white head. The aroma is captivating. Slightly a gueze aroma but with raspberries. Not the dark, tart aroma you would get with a raspberry lambic, but more of a light golden raspberry tart aroma. Taste is wonderful, nutty, raspberry, flemish sour. I love how mellow it is despite it’s rockin flavors. It isn’t overstated or even super strong, it just really shows off the fun sour yeasts and raspberries. I really enjoyed this, and I enjoyed Dogfish Head’s tendencies to show off the good flavors without smacking you in the face. Good work.

A favorite. Smells so good, tastes even better. It’s warm and sweet and strong, but not too warm and sweet and strong.

Pours a hazy red/gold with very little head. It’s strong, that’s what I noticed at first, the alcohol taste and heavy sweetness and tart from the raspberries. This one packs a punch, almost like wine except it’s thicker and heavier in many ways. It’s good, but not something I’d drink on a regular basis.
- Characteristics: heavy strong sweet tart

Great horizon-expanding beer (thanks again dogfish head!) For me, something that I’m more likely to take a slow shot of than drink in volume. I immediately made all my friends taste it for the educational experience. Strong alcohol, loads of raspberries, is there anything else like it?

Absolutely awful beer, this boozy mess of malt and raspberries is nearly undrinkable in any quantity. The only reason this beer gets an out is because it is made by DFH. Stay away.

I had high hopes for this beer but was ultimately quite let down. Pours a beautiful cloudy orange red with little head and an aroma you can smell across the room. If you like that smell, you’ll probably like the beer as it’s a bigger, stronger version of it. Almost gueuze-like in flavor though hugely tart and very sweet though that’s hard to taste under the barny-funky tartness. Ultimately I found this fruit beer to be a bruiser without the kind of balance I was hoping for.

The string of negative reviews of this beer that follow a larger string of very positive ones gives me the feeling that a bad batch of this slipped through DFH’s quality control program.
To me, Fort tasted like jungle juice. You know, the Everclear-and-juice fusion. You drank it in college, usually in red plastic cups poured out of 5 gallon Gatorade containers in disgusting basements with sticky floors.
I love DFH, but this was a big letdown. I couldn’t finish it.

I think I respect the craftsmanship behind this beer more than I enjoy the actual beer. The 18% is a bit too faceblowing for my liking and the raspberry a bit too sweet.
Worth trying, but I didn’t love it.
- Characteristics: Faceblowing fruity
