This is a perfectly average tripel.
The mouthfeel was a bit off. By definition, tripels are medium-bodied, but this was very thin. It wasn’t bad, just strange.
Smelled fantastic: bready, yeasty, fruity, and a bit boozy. I certainly embarrassed the friend I was at the bar with by smelling my beer a lot longer than is orthodox.
The taste was a bit messy. All the components were there, but they weren’t very well balanced: the booziness was not as plesant as most tripels, the yeasty bubblegum flavors were very subdued, and the bananas, citrus, and spices were very mild.
On cask at Churchkey in the Logan Circle neighborhood of Washington, DC.
- Characteristics: alcohol bananas
