Blue Moon Belgian White
- Brewery: Blue Moon Brewing Company · Golden, CO
- Variety: Ale · Belgian / French Ales · Witbier / White Beer
- Alcohol: ABV 5.40% / ABW 4.32%
- Preferred vessel: Pint glass
- Color: Medium Yellow (Pilsener) (3 SRM)
- Added by Steve Ercolini
- Last updated by Adam
Blue Moon Belgian White* starts out crisp and tangy and ends creamy. It doesn’t have a bitter character because it’s brewed to be balanced and smooth. Its creamy body comes from being brewed with oats. The oats create a chewy feel, adding complexity to the beer while maintaining its approachable nature. Finally, it cleans up slowly, with a residual coriander and orange spiciness—so you know you’ve had something good. A product of MillerCoors.

Refreshing beer that would make for a nice summer beer. Pours a hazy golden amber with a slight orange hue. Has a nice orange/citrus fruitiness and slightly sweetness flavor
It’s not a bad beer, it’s just a little watery compared to most other beers of this style out there.

Very attractive, it looked excellent. Light golden with very white head. Aroma is light hops, some light grains, citrus, tiny bit of yeast and some banana. Taste is crisp and smooth. Some wheat and a tiny bit of that yeast and citrus again. Finish is very clean. This was over too quick. Wait… coors makes this? That can’t be right.

Actually love this beer. It is my go-to brew for the time being. It is easy on the palette and crisp. I love the citrus flavors and they are fairly easy to pick up. The mandatory orange slice on the rim doesn’t hurt either. Very smooth and, so far, has gone well with most foods that I have paired it with.

Not a bad beer but a bit too fruity but, thankfully, not to watery for this type of beer. It is fairly refreshing and is an easy drink; though due to the sweetness I wouldn’t suggest drinking many in one evening.

Pours a pale and hazy golden-orange with a medium head that doesn’t stick around too long. I’ve always had it served with a wedge of orange, which I rather like as it compliments the dominant citrus tone and aroma. Warm spice (clove, coriander) accompany the notes of lemon, orange and grapefruit. Hops are mild, but apparent, as is wheat and yeast. A bit on the sweet side. A creamy mouthfeel.
Though I normally associate citrus with spring/summer, the spice and wheat make this brew one that I particularly enjoy during cool/cold months … Although, I’d happily imbibe this one any time of the year.

There are definite citrus overtones to this beer. It’s slightly cloudy, light amber-gold in color with a modest head. It goes well with Italian cuisine the has a white sauce, but not so much with a tomato-based sauce.
All things considered its a good beer, just not one I’d consider as a regular beer to drink on any occasion.

You can tell that they tried to make a decent witbier and it is ‘ok’ and easily accessible. Not exactly a ringing endorsement, but the easily accessible aspect does come in handy from time to time.

Its alright, its what you get when you have the brewing and research power of Coors behind a pseudo-microbrew label. Yea its sorta Belgium, sorta wheaty which make a good beer on its own. The thing that gets me the big three already sell 95% of the beer in the USA why do they have to pinch out a quality micro-brew with this. Thats what this stuff does it takes a tap that a struggling micro could have in that sports bar, neighborhood bar etc.

I use to think this was a quality beer back when it first came out. That was before I moved to Germany. When I came back to the states, I had a completely different outlook on beer. Craft beer was exploding here in the U.S. and my new-found passion for beer was unleashed. Quality beer is my life now.
Then I had a “Blue Moon” I had once favored before I left the States in Nashville—something was different. Something different about the taste was evident. I still drank it a few more times, but it wasn’t the same for me. It wasn’t until I had a “Shock Top” that it was clear to me. It’s tasted pretty good, but something about the taste didn’t seem quite there. Then I found out who brewed it—AB. Then it was clean—it was engineered to taste a certain way without using quality ingredients to give it that taste. Then I learned “Blue Moon” was Coors attempt to engineer a “craft” beer without craft ingredients. Living in Germany and getting to drink LOTS of different beers only made to strict standards (Reinheitsgebot), it made it practically impossible to drink cheaply made American beer. “Blue Moon” is a step up from a lot still out there, but with the selection available in the U.S. now, it’s a waste of money. - Characteristics:

I made the mistake of letting a non-drinking friend of mine purchase beer for us; we let the brand be his choice. He said he wanted to give it a try and all that. The taste of this was rather sour there was a hint of citrus… but overall it was pretty rank. As I neared the half-way point of the bottle, I came to the point where I just wanted to finish it without “savoring” the taste and so I drank it fast. Definitely not my favorite beer.
