Like a fine port, Old Stock Ale is intended to be laid down. With an original gravity of over 1.100 and a generous hopping rate, Old Stock Ale is well-designed to round-out and mellow with age. It’s brewed with classic Maris Otter malt and Fuggles and East Kent Goldings hops, all imported from England.

I expected to love this, but I didn’t. A little too intense flavor-wise.
Subtle hops Very malty Deep amber color Quickly dissipating head Strong raisin dark fruit flavor

Yikes! This Ale has quite the kick! I’ve had only a few of North Coast Brewing’s ales, but so far, I’m impressed. Beware - this is a sipping beer!
Pours beautiful clear amber, with a thick head that sticks around. Good lacing. Very sweet, malty aroma.
The high alcohol kicks in right away - otherwise very sweet and malty. Clean finish, but the alcohol kick lingers.
This isn’t a summer beer - I’m saving my remaining bottle for January - but it’s still delicious.
- Characteristics: amber malty sipping-beer warming

This bottle of “Old Stock” purchased today has a 2008 date & 12.5% ABV. on it’s label. Malty, strong, dark fruit aroma. Sweet & slightly sour but tastey mouthfeel. As stated by ‘scredsfan’; I’ll also be drinking the next one this winter.
- Characteristics: malts strong
