Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a nonic.

Immediately the head stands up, light and airy. Lots of floral hoppiness right up front on the nose. There’s another spicy thing that’s happening here that I can’t quite pin down. Alcohols on the very end.

Pours a very clear middle amber tone. Nice looking beer right off. The head dissipates quickly, but just a skosh hangs around and laces the glass up fairly well.

On the front of the tongue there’s a sharp hop flavor that mellows in the middle and returns on the back.

I’ve never had an IPA that coated the tongue like this one. It’s got a medium-light weight in the mouth with a nice level of carbonation. Not overdone, not lacking. Apologies to the bears, but just right.

That stick-to-the-tongue thing really prolongs the flavor profile and lets the nice hop presence hang around for quite a while, especially on the back.

There’s not a lot of malt balancing the hops in the forefront, but not much is necessary.

A very solid brew, quite worth picking up at around $9/sixer.

Very pleasant. Very hoppy. Just a bit sweeter than I was expecting, too. While Sierra Nevada’s Pale Ale is delicious, it does sometimes have this funky taste I can only describe as metallic. Torpedo is more fresh and substantially more tasty in that regard. This is a remarkable IPA.

I picked up a single of this because it was the first time I’d seen it, but now wishing I got the full six-pack. Pours a nice golden pale with great hop aroma and has a wonderfully pleasant hoppy bitter flavor without that IPA bite you sometimes get. Definitely a winner.

Always a Sierra fan. I really like this brew. I pours a burnt gold color and has nice white head. Very citrusy and a nice floral taste. It has a nice tangy after taste.

One of my favorites. The quality and consistency of SNB can’t be beat. Lots of hops, but not overkill.

Lately I have been on a hop roll - generally going for the most hop-heavy beer on the shelf. Most super-hoppy beers exhaust me after one bottle (i love the hops but some are just too powerful to drink multiples). The Torpedo maintains a great balance and keeps me coming back for more. The first sip has a strong hit of hops, the swish is flavorful, and the aftertaste is bitter and delicious. Grab a sixer!

Drank this for the first time last night. This is pretty much a perfect beer for me. Plenty of hop aroma, citrus and pine, just the kind of bite I expect from an IPA.

Pours beautifully with a perfect fluffy head and amber color. Incredible nose with notes of citrus and pine. Surprisingly balanced and not “hollow” like other super IPAs. Just the right amount of bite and not very bitter at all. Nice herbal aftertaste.

I love that Sierra Nevada just keeps taking what made their original Pale Ale and adding to it and making it better.

I can’t get enough of that cascade hops! Keep it coming!

Strong hop aroma with a very strong hop attack at first taste. It has a nice balance and quite a bit of depth. Finally a long hoppy/bitter aftertaste.

As IPA’s go the more hops and aroma [for me] the better. This Ale is not overly aromatic or hoppy but the balanced complex flavors earn my respect. A fine IPA, that I will look to try on tap.

This is very very good. I gave it a try last night and was very pleasantly surprised. I like hoppy beers as a rule only when the big hops are balanced, and Torpedo does it perfectly.
