Pours amber, with lots of malt, apple and caramel on the aroma. Flavor is mild, sweet, and caramel. Hops are only mildly apparent in just a hint of grapefruit and maybe a bit of earthiness. Very drinkable, and since it’s an altbier, a bit of a change of pace from most ambers.

Characteristics: apple caramel earth mild sweet

Alaskan Amber is a common tap and bottle beer in Seattle, and it’s easy to understand why — it’s an easy-to-drink microbrew. Moderate amber color, almost more toffee than caramel. Low bitterness, goes down clean, malt taste with just a hint of a floral aroma. It’s not complicated, but it’s a nice hot weather pint.

    Characteristics: approachable floral mild semisweet

This beer has some caramel and malty sweetness. Very easy drinking as it is not bitter and has a clean crisp taste. Would be a great beer for the middle of a hot summer day.

A clean, easy drinking amber. I like a more hoppy amber personally but this beer is easy to drink.

One of my favorite beers. Discovered while on a cruise to Alaska, then found the local Safeway carries it! I’ve had this from a tap (when in Alaska) and from a bottle (when at home).
