This is one of my all-time favorites. It’s richly flavorful with a gentle bite, and none of that over-charred flavor some other dark beers can have. I certainly wouldn’t call this beer sweet, but I do pick up just a touch of sweetness that offsets the toastiness.

Taddy Porter seems less popular than the other Samuel Smith’s brews (Oatmeal Stout, Nut Brown Ale, etc), at least in the parts of the US I’ve lived, so if you can find it, give it a try.

    Characteristics: dark nutty rich roasted

Very nice porter. For me, it has the dark, rich flavor of Guinness or any good stout, but finishes better thanks to some crisper notes and more carbonation. Robust with some great complexity.

Characteristics: black complex dark roasty semisweet solid

My most favorite desert beer. Looking for something to compliment a meal but not in the mood for ice cream or cake this beer will take care of that.

It is so creamy and delicious. It has a ton of flavor and very similar to Guinness but enjoy how it finishes sweet but with a bite.

I have a few of these in the fridge at all times for just how delicious they are as a desert. I will be sure to post if I ever find a better Porter, but this is the best out there.

This rich, creamy porter was perfect on a really cold night. Not as sweet as some of the other porter’s I’ve tried recently. It was even a bit lighter than I expected.

    Characteristics: creamy dark rich roasty-toasty

This is the best Porter I’ve ever had from a bottle. Dark and Rich, with more dark chocolate flavors than dark coffee flavors, as some porters or stouts can sometimes have….which is a plus for me. Excellent beer for dessert. Never had it on tap, but I bet it’s even better.

Very drinkable with a rich creamy flavour and just a touch of sweetness that nicely complement the roasted coffee-like bitterness. Surprisingly fizzy and light for the flavour profile, but that’s about the only downside.

    Characteristics: coffee creamy flight sweet

This is the first porter I ever drank. At the time I thought Taddy Porter would be a good name if I ever had a daughter. I now realize that’s stupid, but this eminently drinkable and delicious beer will always hold a special place in my heart.

Was a little put off by the strong bitterness of the roasted barley, but about halfway through, this brew seemed to mellow out. Wish I had had the time to smoke a nice maduro cigar with it. Would have been perfect.
