Paulaner Hefe-Weizen

Brewery: Paulaner Brauerei · Munich, Bayern, Germany
Variety: Ale · German Ale · Hefeweizen
Preferred vessel: Pint glass
Color: Red/Brown (American Amber) (13 SRM)
Added by finalcut

Paulaner’s Hefe is best when served in a traditional Hefe glass without the affectation of fruit. The beer itself has a slightly fruity undertone and I find it generally refreshing regardless of the time of year.

In summary, I really like this beer.

Refreshing, Crisp, Citrus, Wheat

Pours a cloudy amber with a very thin, fizzy white head. First taste… mmm, this is good stuff. Much like the other German wheats, it’s clean and crisp and very easy to drink. It’s refreshing, with hints of spice on top of a really nice banana, citrus and wheat base. It’s a really good compliment to the spicy lentals and chutney I’m eating. Really, really good stuff!

Very nice hefe-weizen, light, refreshing. Slight banana tastes. Crisp and spicey, just how a hefe is supposed to be.

It took me too long to finally drink this beer. I was bent from drinking American Hefs and became a hater of the style itself for a while. My buddy bought some for the store and I tried one. Wow. This is what a Hef really is and should be! I can’t get enough of this beer! I love the banana notes and smooth balanced feel and taste. My favorite Hef.
