There are a couple of variations of Leffe beers. The variation sold most in the US is the Blonde, which I concur, it’s not all that delicious.
However, if you have a chance to take a stab at the Brune - do it. It’s good. It’s fairly dark beer, fairly heavy. It’s a little nutty and it has a touch of chocolate in there. It’s terrific when you want one beer for dessert.
(I was trying to add the Leffe beers to the the catalog but it wasn’t working. user error?)

First had Leffe (Blonde) served out of big brandy-glass sized glasses from a fancy club-bar in Southampton…it was super-expensive (still is), fruity, chalky and unlike anything I had tasted before! I didn’t enjoy it at all. I’ve tried it a few times since, to see if I can appreciate anything about it, but each time has been disappointing. This beer is very, very overrated. One to avoid.

I liked this one. The color made me think that it was not going to have tons of flavor, but it really did. Unusual white head on it.

The blonde is drinkable, with a bit of a fruity malt taste. It’s rather simple beer that will neither overwhelm nor disappoint.

Pale golden yellow with a malty, spicy and estery aroma. Similar to a tripel in taste but much lighter… malty and sweet with spiciness and fruitiness. You have to like Belgians to really enjoy this one.

This is the beer I have in the fridge for when guests come over. (I also have Heineken in the drawer, just in case) I quite like this beer and I honestly can’t tell you why. It’s a bit like licking this wood panel that they have in the background of this site, but somehow, that’s comforting! By the way, I drank this in The Netherlands. I’m guessing it tastes different here than in the states. I’ll have to try it when I visit home.

I simply can’t comprehend the poor reviews of this beer. Either you’re all drinking a poor local licenced version or you don’t understand the fruity Belgian beers. Regardless, this beer when drunk from the bottles imported into Australia is superlative - the ultimate Belgian quaffing beer. Better in bottle than on tap, I can’t get enough of it, with cost the only reason I don’t drink more. Best I can describe it is like imported Stella Artois infused with a touch of golden syrup. Best drunk by filling your mouth with each swig of the bottle.

Not a bad beer, but not great either. A nice introduction to Belgian Ales. Light gold coloration, with a fluffy white head. Light and sweet, without being syrupy like some other Belgian Ales I’ve tried. I’ll be buying more of this one!

Sampled this on tap at a local bar & well… it’s ok. Kind of light in body & flavor; some fruit aroma if you inhale. I’d recommend it to a novice Belgian ale drinker but I will not have it again.
