Although La chouffe is a little sweeter then Duvel is, if you like Duvel, you’ll probably appreciate this beer also.

La Chouffe has some great beers. Poured from a 750mL corked champagne bottle. Appearance: Golden and a little cloudy with nice white head. Aroma: Spicy and aromatic, maybe a little banana? Flavor: Coriander and banana, sweet and malty, soft bitterness. The magnitude of this beer is well masked, as the mouthfeel is smooth and light. A great beer to be had. And the gnomes are cool.

    Characteristics: banana belgian coriander gnomes

I discovered La Chouffe at a Belgian restaurant in The Netherlands. It really reminded me of the Belgians. Warm, open, easy to take in. La Chouffe is too sweet for some people, but it is a pleasant summer drink when super chilled on a hot day. I plan to visit the brewery this summer. Oh, and they have special La Chouffe glasses. When you are in Holland or Belgium, they only serve it in that glass.

    Comment:

Very good beer. The orange and coriander are a bit stronger than I’d normally like. If I have more than one I find I tire of the sweetness, but is very good once in a session.

    Characteristics: golden sweet wheat
