Complex tasting pale ale, characterised by citrus notes.

From their website: “Bag loads of whole Chinook and Cascade hop flowers that we source from Washington and Oregon in the US as well as some local flowers from Tasmania are thrown at this beer, creating an intense citrus and grapefruit aroma and flavour that we balance with a careful selection of specialty malts and a local pale malt made to our own specifications.”

Fresh, Citrus, Hoppy, Floral

This really is a great beer, one of the first that really caught my attention and got me into premium beer.

Best consumed on site in Fremantle :)

This is my favourite beer. Period.

Australian breweries are particularly crappy at making Ales en-masse. The micros are doing a fantastic job of pushing tasty ales out to the public, but Little Creatures falls into the category of ‘macro’ brewery in my eyes. They produce this flavoursome ale on a consistent and regular basis - and it’s available in most bottle shops and pubs throughout Australia.

On tap it is a very tasty beer, moreso than in the bottle. Little Creatures Brewery in Fremantle is meant to be the best place to drink this beer, however their Brew Hall bar & restaurant in Melbourne does a great job too.

Drunk from a glass, this ale gives you a citrus smell right before the ale hits your lips. In your mouth you can easily taste the maltiness of the beer, followed by some more fruity tones in the aftertaste.

Not an extremely complex taste, however it’s a step above a simple ale and is a great choice as a ‘Premium’ beer when having a nice meal or simply enjoying a few drinks with friends. The flavour is light enough that you can drink this as a session beer if you’re so inclined, although it wouldn’t be my first choice.

Good fresh hoppy aroma. New pint bottles are perfect for homebrew - which just provides another excuse to buy and drink them:)

I’m not usually a big fan of ales in general, but given the general lack of widely available microbrews in Australia compared to the US, Little Creatures was a welcome change.

Easily measures up to the standard of NW United States microbrews. As to the macro-vs-micro question, I tend to use microbrew to indicate something that’s a higher quality beer, as opposed to pure scale. Plenty of what I think of as microbrews in the US have wide distribution.

Definitely worth the cost premium if you’re into trying something new.

Little Creatures is an old favourite at this point. Unusually fruity, especially for an ale. A good full-bodied, full flavoured beer.
